Contractors Honored with Lifesaving Award at CITGO Lemont Refinery

Lemont, Ill. — Leadership at the CITGO Lemont Refinery, alongside the CITGO Fire Department and the Romeoville Fire Department, recently recognized two contractors with a Lifesaving Award following their decisive actions during a medical emergency onsite.

On March 25, 2026, Marcus Haussy of Brock Group and Tyler Triumph of TEAM Industrial Services were working at the refinery when they noticed a fellow contractor in distress. Acting immediately, the pair retrieved an automated external defibrillator (AED) and began performing CPR. Their swift response and teamwork helped stabilize the individual until additional emergency support arrived, ultimately saving a life.

The recognition highlights the critical importance of safety training, awareness, and preparedness across all levels of refinery operations. It also reflects the strong coordination between onsite personnel and local first responders in emergency situations.

“Situations like this are exactly why we emphasize preparedness at every level of our organization. Tyler didn’t hesitate. He trusted his training, took action, and helped save a life. That is what safety looks like when it is truly embedded in the culture,” said Tom Lancaster, Senior Vice President of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE).

The actions of Haussy and Triumph serve as a powerful reminder that safety is not just a protocol, but a shared responsibility—one that can make a life-saving difference in critical moments.
